October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
So here’s the short version. Or as short as I can go without cutting everything out.
Those of you who know me, have followed and read what I’ve had to say know that I lost my grandmother to breast cancer. She felt more like a mother to me and helped to raise me. I lived with her for most of my childhood and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about her. She was the glue that helf my family together and it sometimes feels like we’re just muddling through life, praying we’re going to get through to the other side. I was able to talk to her about almost everything and its a hugh hole in my life that is missing.
I could go on forever talking about her, because she truly was an angel and anyone who met her would agree. To be in her presence was a blessing. It was to feel accepted for who, and what, you are and know that no matter what you were loved.
She was home.
A few months ago I found out someone else who is very close to me may develope breast cancer. The doctors found lumps but as of right now thery’re harmless. That could change at any moment.
It is terrifying and painful to go through this again. I was young last time and even though I went with my grandmother to a lot of her appointments, my nievety(?) at that time protected me.
The end was the hardest and my biggest regret is that the last time I saw her I didn’t tell her “I love you”. She was sleeping, and that was it.
I know that she knows and that makes it better.
My family member found it early enough that if she acts, they can remove the cancer before it decides being dormant isn’t what it wants to do. But that in it self is a difficult decision to have to make. No matter what, I’ll be here for her and I’ll do everything I can to help and support her.
cancer doesn’t discriminate and it isn’t only genetic. Don’t take an unnecessary chance. Get tested, it only takes one appointment to give tou peace of mind.
Trust me, it’s worth it.
I want to do something to honor these wonderful women of my life.
Almost everytime I make a purchase in a store and they ask if I want to make a donation, I do. I try to always buy jewerly or pther products where a portion of the proceeds are donated to the fight against Breast Cancer or raising Awareness?
But I want to do more.
So, I’m putting up a Donate button.
If you guys can donate up to a $50 I’ll match it.
If you can raise MORE THAN $100 I’ll put up fifty myself and $0.50 for every dollar over up to $100(from me. Unfortunately, I only work part-time and can’t afford more.)
Every person who opens up their hearts will be mentioned here. Honestly, if it lets you donate a penny, I’m happy. if you can’t donate at all that’s fine. There are many other ways to let it known that you care and support the cause, number one being just being there.
If you know someone who is a survivor, fighting or who has passed away and you want me to mention them, just email me and I’ll be happy to post it. If you have a story or picture of that person that you want to share with us, send it and I’ll put it up.
We are all in this together.
