About the Author:
Emily Guido is a new Paranormal Romance Author. She was inspired to start writing “Charmeine” because one day she got an idea of two characters that needed to have their story told. Not ever dreaming a week later she would have over a 100,000 words written. When Emily writes, it is similar to you or I watching a movie. She pictures the characters in her head going through vivid descriptions of each scene. There are so many nuances going through her mind that she cannot type fast enough.
Emily is currently editing the second novel, in “The Light-Bearer Series,” Ransom, soon to be published in May 2012. She is currently working at a College full time, and pursuing her Master of Business Administration.

I have attached an excerpt from “Charmeine” if you wish to publish it!
“Blood to save Tabbruis” snippet of “CHARMEINE” the First Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series”
Charmeine said, “No way will you die on me Tabbruis!” she ran across to the desk and got the letter opener and came to the bed cutting open a hole in the blood pack and held it up to his lips, he didn’t respond.
Angrily, she threw the blood pack in the bathroom sink. The tears were pouring out of her eyes clouding her vision. Then she came over to the bed and Tabbruis’ pallor was almost white.
Helplessness enveloped her. Charmeine yelled, “DAMN IT TO HELL!”
In desperation, she cut her finger with the letter opener. She pushed her bleeding finger through Tabbruis’ lips and rested it on his tongue and he rolled his eyes.
Urgently Charmeine said, “Taste my blood, you need to drink now Tabbruis!”
There was no response from him. Charmeine was not going to give up! Still with her bathing top on, she unzipped her hoodie and took it off.
While dripping her blood on her neck, Charmeine pulled Tabbruis up into a sitting position and leaned his mouth against her neck rubbing her bloody finger against her jugular vein and his lips.
Tears were rolling down her face and she said in his ear. “Hold on to me Tabbruis; don’t leave me now. I’ve been searching for you my whole life. Semper…tua…ero…Tabbruis.”
Finally, Charmeine felt a puncture in her neck.
Charmeine gasped at the pain but was relieved he was going to have the blood he needed to survive.
When Tabbruis began to pull on her blood, a rush of warmth ran through her body. When he pulled again, a shock of pleasure ran up and down her body.
Charmeine lay back on the bed too weak to hold up his weight up anymore. Going on his basic instincts, Tabbruis rested across the top of her with his mouth buried in her neck.
Tabbruis pulled on her blood again and an electric, sexual heat filled all her senses. Charmeine did not know what was going on. She had never felt like this before.
Charmeine pulled him closer pressing him against her and said, “Hold me Tabbruis, hold me closer.” With a low growl, he began to wrap his arms around her tightly and she moaned with pleasure.
Suddenly, Tabbruis’ senses came back to him. He turned his head from her neck ashamed of what he had done. Tabbruis’ desire was too great to be this close to her and he did not want to harm her.
Charmeine took his chin in her hands and he slowly turned his head. His eyes were green in middle but the iris was circled with black desire. Looking into his eyes she brought his head to her neck and said, “Believe.”
Tabbruis backed away and said very weakly, “I cannot; I may hurt you.”
Softly, Charmeine said looking into his eyes, “You won’t. I know you won’t.”
Charmeine kissed Tabbruis’ mouth. His fangs were exposed and she felt the fangs. Tabbruis was trying to control his needs but he could not help growling as she did this. She lowered herself on the bed and guided his mouth to her neck.
Charmeine whispered in his ear breathlessly, “Believe.”
Tabbruis could not hold back any longer, he bent down and began to pull blood from her neck again. He held her even closer now and she pulsated with white light. The warmth and tingle of her white light made him run his hands through her hair and up and down her arms.
Charmeine held him close burning with passion saying, “Always Tabbruis… Always.”
With one last pull of her blood which made her shiver, he licked her neck healing it instantly saying breathlessly, “Always.” Tabbruis lay back next to her.
Here are questions:
1. Tell us something about your works.
“The Light-Bearer Series” is really a set of novels centering around two very star-crossed, hopelessly in love people, Tabbruis and Charmeine. They are total and complete opposites from one another. Tabbruis is a blood-hunter who meets Charmeine who is a light-bearer. Blood-hunters and light-bearers are supposed to kill each other because one is from Heaven and one is from Hell! They are repulsed by each other. However, when they meet… Tabbruis and Charmeine are anything but repulsed! They are such polar opposites that they attract like magnets! Once they find each other, they struggle to stay together. Also there are tons of twists and turns. Nothing is certain for their future accept that they love each other and their family! The series of novels I plan to write are about those struggles and how their love multiplies. Tabbruis and Charmeine create a family of love and acceptance for all, no matter how unconventional they may be, all while they battle the Evil minions of Lucifer on Earth. I do include Heavenly and Hellish aspects from modern religion however; the novels are not about religion. It is about love… pure, perfect and steadfast.
2. What made you take the leap into full-fledged writing?
I had a story running through my mind and couldn’t get it out of my head. It was like you or me going to see a movie and someone asked us to tell them what went on in the movie. I just took a shot and started writing. When I started writing I couldn’t stop. I didn’t sleep for 48 hours and in a week I had over 100,000 words. Not being a novelist or a writer, I asked my husband what qualified as a novel and he said, “Oh honey, you have yourself a novel!” By the time I was finally finished in a couple weeks, I had over 130,000 plus! It was so simple. The same way with the second novel, I had the continuation of the movie going, and I just kept writing and writing. The third novel is would be simple for me to write, but I’m out promoting the first and gearing up the second, so it doesn’t leave a lot of time for writing. The movie is still playing in my head though and I’m itching to get it out. When I was writing the first to third chapter in the Third Novel, it scared me as I was writing it! The third novel “Conundrum” I going to really push the envelope! People ask me at work because they don’t know me to be a writer at all and say, “Emily, how in the heck did you come up with the idea?” I just shrug my shoulders and say, “I really don’t know.” But really… do you have to know? Not really, you just have to have the story come and it did for me!
3. Do you sometimes see something of yourself in your lead characters, perhaps?
Of course I see myself in all the characters in different ways, “Charmeine” for her faith, acceptance and kindness, and “Tabbruis,” for always looking on the darker side from years of being lonely and too much into his self. How can I write about aspects that I don’t at least know on a broad base level? I guess that is why it was so easy and so very fun to write. And I did have fun… a lot of fun writing down like a movie critic what was happening in my head.
4. Are you an avid reader? If yes, what kind of books do you like to read?
I love paranormal romance and sort of a Vampire Connoisseur, so I read a lot of those stories. However, there is nothing from stopping me picking up Jane Eyre for the 20th time and/or Dylan Thomas Poems and reading them. I love English and American Literature.
5. Do you think those works or those authors have influenced your writing in any particular way?
Of course the first paranormal book I read was Bram Stoker’s “Dracula!” I was way too young to read it but I found it on the shelves at the Public Library when I was a kid and I just had to keep coming back after school every day to read it in snippets because my mother would have never allowed me to read it! I do remember the Diana Gabaldon “Outlander” series. It took me a year to read them, and I was hopelessly in love with the hero Jamie Fraser! I loved him and just couldn’t get enough of him. Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s, “Frankenstein,” was another that I just fell in love with. I am sorry, but the ‘Creature’ was so broken and in a way, I love broken characters, they are so juicy. Heathcliff, the character from Emily Brontë’s, “Wuthering Heights” is my all-time favorite twisted and broken character! I so want to comfort and help Heathcliff; he is so damaged by love, rejection, prejudice and hate; then he is warped by it all that he turns downright and unbelievably cruel! I just think it is so wonderful to open a door to a new twist in a character.
6. Do you think it’s easier or harder to be a fantasy writer?
Fantasy is great for me. Do I make it sound believable? No, of course not! No one is going to believe my fantasy world exists, but you have to make it on the fringe of common belief. Like a couple of my characters from “Charmeine,” are Shane and Sandra. In the novel, they served in the US War in Iraq. I had to make sure they were on the fringe of believable. Just on the fringe. They needed to have those skills and characteristics learned in the US Army and being in harm’s way for extended period of time. I guess for me, being a fantasy writer is a joy because the writing can go wherever your mind tells it to.
7. Which of your characters can you relate to the most?
I wish I could say whole-heartedly Charmeine! I am sassy like her. I am willing to put everything on the line like her. Furthermore, I am independent and love my family but no one tells me what to do, just like Charmeine. However, I don’t have one tenth of the beauty she has. She is dazzling and could make any man’s heart beat faster! Charmeine’s beauty is eternal and ethereal. Although we both have blonde hair and brown eyes!
8. Which actors would play the main characters in the movie version of the book?
Oooo… hum… I LOVE this question!
Tabbruis – definitely David Gandy! When I post on my blog, he is always the Tabbruis of my dreams! Drop Dead Gorgeous and Grecian living statue is my Tabbruis! He makes Charmeine heat up with just a look… heck I would too!
Dmitri – one of my favorite to die for characters is Victor Alfieri! OMG Dmitri is just to die for hotness and his story really picks up in the following novels!
Thomas – would be Jason Lewis! Love Thomas and his innocence.
Neal – is my wonderful HUGE Protector of the “Castle Charmeine” played only by Michael Clarke Duncan!
Shane – would be the Gleeson Domhnall from the Harry Potter movies, yummy!
Sandra – Shane’s fiancé and spunky spitfire… could be no other than Demi Lavato
Last but not Least CHARMEINE! She would have to be played by Taylor Swift!
9. Which songs would be on the soundtrack of the movie version of the book?
Tabbruis and Charmeine’s song is “She’s Got a Way” by Billy Joel. It was the song that convinced Tabbruis to go to the Billy Joel Concert where he saved Charmeine from the blood-hunter. It was song that was playing over the loud speaker when they first saw each other. It was also the song they danced to on their wedding night.
However, Tabbruis’ songs vary because he has lived so long on the Earth, and “Night of the Hunter” by This is War on 30 Seconds to Mars was his song before he met Charmeine.
When Tabbruis and Charmeine have problems, this song really brings it home about Tabbruis, “She Wouldn’t Be Gone” by Blake Shelton.
Tabbruis also loves Charmeine so much and I have to mention that when he thinks of her, he always thinks of her with this song too, “Breathing” by Jason Derulo. Tabbruis loves her that she is breath, his one and only love.
10. Any future books in the works?
Oh YES! Definitely! The Third Novel in the “The Light-Bearer Series” which is “Conundrum” is coming out sometime in during the Holidays! It is the continuation of Tabbruis and Charmeine’s love affair which is a rollercoaster but is sweet and smexy! I can’t wait until my fans read it they will be shocked!
